About this event

Did you know that currently the University is successfully delivering place-based projects with a value £6.6m through the ERDF funding stream. This has a direct impact on our ambitions for delivering impactful R&I, our Civic University ambitions as well as contributing significantly to our annual HEIF allocations.

We hear a lot about the Government’s Levelling Up agenda and various new funding streams aimed at promoting pride in place. What does this mean for the University of Portsmouth, and what are the opportunities and challenges for specific projects which aim to impact our local communities?

Research & Innovation Services will be hosting a virtual workshop on 28th April to explore place-based funding opportunities and especially the new UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) which is expected to be released soon.

This workshop will give an overview of the place-based funding landscape in general followed by input from Portsmouth City Council on how they will administer their UK Shared Prosperity Fund allocation. We will consider the specific investment priorities and likely outputs/outcomes that the UKSPF projects will need to deliver.

There will then be an opportunity to join breakout sessions to discuss your project ideas and how these might complement other projects aligned to our areas of strength.

The information gained from this workshop will inform our response to the upcoming opportunities. From this workshop we expect to identify a pipeline of projects to support through application to the UKSPF or other place-based funding streams, as appropriate.

The event will be video recorded. Unless you are a panelist, please turn off your webcam/video at all times to avoid appearing on other people’s screens and on the recording.

To discuss any queries you may have, please contact Pam Jones, Regional Development Manager (pam.jones@port.ac.uk).
